Diving Project Approval

Projects that have been approved must fulfill the following requirements:

  • A Dive Plan must be submitted and approved by UBC’s DSO (dive.safety@ubc.ca). It is advised that four to six weeks of lead time be provided for approval.
  • The diver-in-charge is responsible for confirming that all divers have completed their personal logs books daily.
    • A recreational log book, or one in which pages can be removed is not acceptable. UBC will provide an appropriate Dive Log Book to divers who are engaged in UBC Science Diving Programs
  • Daily Dive Debrief Form, with pre & post-brief details and CAUS dive plan (WORD), must be completed for each day of diving conducted during the project. These must be scanned and provided to the DSO within one month of the project completion. A template is provided which can be modified as required for the specific project
    • This is provided in word format in the event you need to customize it for your program. Please make sure discussions with the DSO have occurred before you modify the form
  • A CAUS dive log (WORD) must be maintained to track daily dive activities. These logs must be scanned and sent to the DSO within one month of the annual dive project completion
  • An excel sheet of the dive project must be completed within one month of the dive project completion (to be provided to you by DSO).
