Types of Scientific Diving
Diving
The Scientific Diving Program is based on the Canadian Association of Underwater Science (CAUS) standards and is administered by the UBC Diver Control Board (DCB).
The standards for diving safety are outlined in the UBC Dive Safety Manual (WORD), which are guided by the CAUS Dive Safety Manual (PDF).
To be considered as an applicant for the Science Diving Program, you must be a part of an Approved Project. Please contact the Dive Safety Officer (DSO) if you are not running an independent program but are interested to volunteer for one and become qualified.
To register for scientific diving qualification, please contact the Dive Safety Officer (DSO).
Snorkelling
Snorkelling Projects must also be approved the DSO. The Lead must fill out the Dive Plan Form as outlined in the Active Projects section.
