Safety in laboratories
- Laboratories often contain hazardous material that might results in injuries and impact your health. Your instructor or supervisor is obligated to provide you with a safety orientation to the environment. It should cover what to do in the event of an emergency, the potential hazards you might encounter, and any safety courses you might need to complete.
Safety in lecture theatres
- A lecture theatre is often considered non-hazardous with minimum opportunities of an injury. However, accidents happen! Instructors are responsible for the safety of students during classes or instructional periods. For information about emergency preparedness, visit the UBC Emergency Preparedness website.
Safety in shops
- Be aware of the hazards in your shop and ask your instructor questions if you are unsure.
- First aid in the event of an emergency.
- Information about De-Energization and Lockout
