The Chemical Safety Program incorporates the entire lifecycle of the chemical beginning with purchasing and ending with disposal. The aim is to ensure chemicals are used and handled properly to prevent injury, illness, disease, fire, explosions or property damage.

Chemical acquisition, inventory, storage, transport and disposal
When chemicals are purchased, the shipment must follow the requirements of Transport Canada, other international, federal and provincial regulators and UBC RMS.

Hazard ID, labeling, SRSs and training
The UBC Chemical Safety Program offers information and training to meet the requirements of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Transport Canada (TC), and WorkSafeBC.
