What is workplace conduct?
A person must not engage in any improper activity or behaviour at a workplace that might create or constitute a hazard to themselves or to any other person (WorkSafeBC OHS Regulations 4.24 to 4.26).

What is defined as improper activity or behaviour?
UBC Workers must not engage in activities or behaviours that gives another worker any reasonable cause to believe that he or she is at risk of injury.
WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation 4.24 defines “improper activity or behaviour” as:
- The attempted or actual exercise by a worker towards another worker of any physical force so as to cause injury, and includes any threatening statement or behaviour which gives the worker reasonable cause to believe he or she is at risk for injury;
- Horseplay, practical jokes, unnecessary running or jumping or similar conduct.
What is the supervisor and worker responsibility?
Improper activity or behaviour must be reported and investigated. An accident/incident report must be created in UBC CAIRS.
