Welcome Maddy Speck as our new Safety Associate

Welcome to Maddy Speck as our new Safety Associate, Faculty of Medicine, starting July 14! 

Maddy joins us from the UBC Department of Surgery at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, where she developed operational procedures for complex studies and trained and directed staff and students regarding lab-specific procedures. In addition to her duties in the lab, Maddy has been a longstanding member of the safety teams at the institute and part of the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee (JOHSC) over the past year and a half. 

We’re excited that Maddy brings with her 20 years of experience as a Research Assistant, which, in addition to supporting the five Medicine JOHSCs and various Local Safety Teams, will provide a valuable perspective as we work to improve our education and off-campus research centre safety programs.
