Derek Ho joins Safety & Risk Services’ Privacy & Information Security Management (PrISM) team as Lead Advisor in Privacy & Information Security Risk. The SRS PrISM team delivers privacy and security risk assessments, campus–wide training and risk advisory services to UBC.
In this role, Derek will be conducting or overseeing Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Security Threat Risk Assessments (STRAs) and providing highly specialized privacy and security advisory services to large, complex and high-risk projects throughout the university. He will collaborate with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO office), UBC IT, Procurement and project teams to embed privacy and information security activities in project lifecycles.
Prior to working at UBC, Derek had an extensive cybersecurity career, spanning 13 years across various industries. Outside of work, Derek enjoys reading, spending time with his family and playing board games with his young daughter.
