UBC Alert testing in January – are you in the loop?

UBC Alert will be sending out a test notification to students, faculty, and staff via a phone call and text message in January. UBC Alert is the university’s mass notification system used to send alerts in urgent situations that pose an immediate safety or security risk to the community.

  • UBC Vancouver: Wednesday, January 14, 2026 
  • UBC Okanagan: Friday, January 16, 2026   

To receive safety updates in an emergency, please ensure your contact information is up to date in Workday and include a mobile number. Learn how to update your contact information — students can visit workday.students.ubc.ca and faculty and staff can visit the Workday Knowledge base. 

Please note: The UBC Alert system only sends notification to one phone number from Workday. If you have multiple numbers and prefer to receive notifications on one of them, please set that number as your home mobile number.

The UBC Alert system works in tandem with UBC Safe App. Download the app for the Vancouver or Okanagan campus and turn on push notifications to receive important updates for safety and security risks.
