Pilot project to increase compliance with UBC required training

Led by Safety & Risk Services within VP Finance & Operations (VPFO) in collaboration with VP Human Resources (VPHR), and UBC Information Technology (UBC IT) are launching a pilot project in VPHR and VPFO to increase compliance with required training, as mandated by legislation and UBC policies. After the pilot, this will be expanded to all employees across the university.

Starting in October 2022, automatic WorkDay notifications will be sent to employees with incomplete UBC required training, and further notifications will be sent to their direct manager when courses continue to not be completed. Due to the Workday Supervisory Organizations structure for VPHR, the pilot will also notify staff in the Equity & Inclusion Office (EIO) as well as Hiring Solutions temporary staff. During the pilot, notifications will only be sent to members within the following Supervisory Organizations: Senior Leadership | Central Human Resources; VP Operations Leadership | VP Finance and Operations, and; VP Finance Leadership | VP Finance and Operations.

The notifications will be sent every six months to employees with outstanding training, and managers will receive a report in Workday that outlines compliance with the UBC required training for their team(s). We encourage all our team members to check that they’ve completed all their UBC required training courses in Workday.
